Outline Global is reshaping how regulated industries manage compliance and environmental performance. We deliver premium imagery, LiDAR and AI-driven insights that help organisations operate more efficiently, sustainably and transparently.
We are entering a new growth phase, moving from mostly project-based work to long-term partnerships and delivery programs with some of Australia's largest enterprises. This is your chance to be part of that journey.
About the role
Outline Global Pty Ltd is seeking an Insights Analyst to join our Insights team at our Melbourne office in Doncaster East, VIC. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Insights Team Leader.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and curate training datasets, including labelling, image tagging and quality control of annotations
- Train, fine-tune and evaluate machine learning models that extract features from imagery and LiDAR data
- Run structured experiments to improve model accuracy and efficiency, and help deploy validated models into production
- Digitise and edit features from aerial imagery and LiDAR to client specifications, and review and finalise model-generated outputs
- Manage assigned production tasks end to end, from data preparation through to delivery-ready outputs
- Perform quality assurance and accuracy analysis against ground truth and benchmarks, and investigate data and model issues
- Develop and maintain Python scripts and tools that automate digitising, data preparation and ML workflows, reducing manual effort across our products
- Contribute to the team's R&D; program by testing new models, tools and techniques
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and support to Geospatial Data Technicians
- Support our Customer & Project Success team with technical input, including joining client calls to explain outputs,
capabilities and data limitations
What we're looking for
- A degree in geospatial science, remote sensing, photogrammetry, data science, computer science or a related discipline
- 2+ years' experience in a production or technical role working with imagery, geospatial data or machine learning
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and workflow automation
- Hands-on experience training and evaluating models using PyTorch and/or TensorFlow/Keras
- Familiarity with model architectures used in geospatial work, such as U-Net, YOLO, Mask R-CNN or point-cloud models
- Practical experience with GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or Global Mapper, including digitising and feature editing
- Experience with geospatial libraries such as GDAL, Rasterio, PDAL or WhiteboxTools
- A strong understanding of accuracy metrics and a real commitment to high-quality outputs
- The ability to work independently, troubleshoot systematically and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Highly regarded: Git and experiment tracking (e.g. MLflow), fine-tuning foundation models such as SAM, cloud or GPU computing, and a photogrammetry background
What we offer
We offer competitive remuneration and the chance to work on applied machine learning problems that have real-world impact for some of Australia's largest organisations. You'll join a small, team-oriented team where your work goes straight into production and your ideas shape how our products develop. We support professional development through training and mentorship. We offer flexible working arrangements and are committed to an inclusive, supportive workplace where diversity is valued. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, we welcome the opportunity to discuss these with you.
