Fencing & Outdoor Construction Subcontractor
SCOPE OF WORK
Our company undertakes a wide range of fencing, retaining wall and outdoor construction projects across private residential and government-contracted properties. Our scope of work includes:
- Color bond fencing
- Timber fencing
- Pool fencing and pool barriers
- Retaining wall installation, replacement and repairs
- Gates and gate installation
- Security fencing
- Fence extensions and modifications
- Deck construction
- Carports
- Outdoor structures and associated external construction
- Repairs, replacements and maintenance
- Government-contracted property works
- Private residential projects
- Other external property and outdoor construction works within our capabilities, licensing and scope
Please note: We undertake pool fencing and associated barrier works; however, we do NOT undertake swimming pool installation or construction.
KEY MUST-HAVES — NON-NEGOTIABLE
These are the minimum requirements for anyone wanting to progress into subcontracting work with our company.
LICENCES, IDENTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE
You must have:
- Full valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Construction White Card
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Clearance/background check
- Ability to provide the identification and documentation required for company and contractor on boarding
- Legal ability to work in Australia (Visa)
- Willingness to complete any additional compliance requirements applicable to particular contracts or sites
- All necessary PPE, personal safety equipment and procedures
Because we undertake government-contracted work, the required identification, background checks, White Card and compliance processes are non-negotiable.
VEHICLE & TRANSPORT
You must have:
- Your own reliable Ute or suitable work vehicle
- Vehicle capable of towing a work trailer
- Full Driver’s Licence
- Ability to safely transport your tools and equipment
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
You must have:
- Your own professional construction/fencing tools/hand tools/battery operated tools (Good-quality, reliable and suitable for the work being undertaken)
- Ability to maintain your equipment in secure working condition
We provide the primary job materials. You provide the tools and equipment required to professionally complete the work.
EXPERIENCE & PRACTICAL ABILITY
You must be capable of working within the type of external construction work we undertake. Strong experience in the following is particularly valuable:
- Color bond fencing
- Timber fencing
- Retaining walls
- Gates
- Pool fencing/barriers
- Safety fencing
- Decking
- Carports
- Repairs and replacement work
- General external construction
You do not necessarily need to specialize in every area. However, you must be honest about your experience and competency so that we allocate appropriate work to you.
SAFETY — NON-NEGOTIABLE
Safety is a fundamental requirement of working under our company.
You must
- Have and use appropriate PPE
- Follow company and site safety procedures
- Conduct appropriate pre-start/site assessments
- Identify hazards before commencing work and communicate them
- Work safely around existing structures and services
- Use tools and machinery safely
- Maintain a safe and organised worksite
- Protect residents, clients, workers and members of the public
- Report incidents, hazards, damage and near misses
- Stop and report work that cannot be safely completed
- Never undertake work you are not trained, competent or authorized to perform (example: ASBESTOS REMOVAL if you are NOT qualified)
HIGHLY DESIRABLE SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS
A significant advantage will be:
- Asbestos Awareness training
- Relevant asbestos removal training/licence
- First Aid certification
- Additional construction safety training
- Previous experience working on government-contracted sites
Additional training may also be identified during on boarding depending on the work you will be undertaking.
ORGANISATION & AVAILABILITY
We require subcontractors who are organised and reliable. You must maintain your own calendar, diary or scheduling system.
We do not necessarily need direct access to your calendar. However, when we contact you regarding upcoming work, you must be able to provide clear and accurate availability.
This allows us to allocate:
- Government-contracted work
- Private residential projects
- Larger projects
- Repairs and maintenance
- Urgent works
Once a job has been accepted and scheduled, we expect the subcontractor to honor that commitment unless there is a genuine reason preventing attendance.
QUALITY & FINAL HANDOVER — NON-NEGOTIABLE
Every job must be inspected before being handed over to the client. A Final Job Checklist is mandatory for every completed job.
The checklist must be
- Fully completed
- Checked against the scope of works
- Supported by required completion photographs
- Signed by the responsible subcontractor
- Submitted as part of the job-completion process
The subcontractor must inspect workmanship, structural stability, levels, alignment, fixings, gates, finishes, damage, cleanliness and any other items relevant to that particular project. Any defects, incomplete work or variations must be identified and reported.
A job is not considered completed until the required final inspection, documentation and signed checklist have been completed.
