About the Role
This is a standalone Finance Manager position, responsible for the overall accounting, finance and compliance functions across the business.
It's a hands-on role where you'll combine senior-level financial responsibility and business analysis with the day-to-day finance functions required to keep the business running smoothly.
You'll be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial records, providing meaningful financial reporting and analysis, managing cash flow and forecasting, overseeing compliance obligations and supporting the business with budgeting and financial decision-making.
At the same time, you'll remain actively involved in the day-to-day finance function, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, reconciliations, purchasing and month-end processing.
This role would suit someone who enjoys having ownership, accountability and visibility across the entire finance function, rather than being one part of a large finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Take overall responsibility for accounting,
finance and compliance.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
- Review balance sheets and ensure financial information is accurate and reliable.
- Prepare financial reports and provide meaningful business analysis.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
- Manage cash flow and provide regular cash flow forecasting.
- Provide financial information and insights to support business decisions.
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure taxation and financial reporting obligations are met.
- Prepare and lodge BAS.
- Maintain accurate records and reconciliations.
- Liaise with external accountants and provide information and support for EOFY requirements.
Day-to-Day Finance Processing
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Payroll and related requirements.
- Purchase orders.
- Bank and account reconciliations.
- Month-end processing and reporting.
- Assist with the ongoing improvement of financial processes and systems.
You will ideally have:
- Formal Commerce or Accounting qualifications.
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Accountant or similar role.
- Demonstrated capability across the full range of responsibilities outlined above.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with Xero.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Fishbowl inventory management software will be advantageous.
- Strong financial reporting, reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal confidently with people at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- The ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
- A practical, common-sense approach to problem solving.
- A self-motivated, outcome-focused and accountable approach.
- High levels of integrity, loyalty and professionalism.
- A friendly, positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
