Details: As part of the Fire Management Unit within ACT Parks and Conservation Service, you will contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery of bushfire mitigation and preparedness programs across the ACT.
In this role, you will assist with the planning and delivery of prescribed burns and associated preparatory works, support the implementation of the annual Bushfire Operations Plan, undertake fuel hazard assessments, and field data collection, and contribute to a range of fire management projects. You will also provide technical and GIS support using a range of spatial systems and field applications, assist with fuel moisture monitoring and weather station maintenance programs, and contribute to fire preparedness and emergency response activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills and experience in fire management, prescribed burning, cultural burning and bushfire operations.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a current driver's licence.
- Be willing and able to undertake bushfire related activities, including bushfire suppression.
- Be prepared to wear a uniform and to work a shift roster, weekends, public holidays, or evening shifts at any PCS worksite on an "as needs" basis.
- Currently meet, or be able to meet prior to commencement, the Moderate level of the National Firefighting Task Based Assessment (Fire Fitness).
- Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered employment for the duration of their visas.

Note:
This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 January 2027 with possible extension up to six months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
Selection may be based on application only.
A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
