Role: Global Waterjet Technology & Operations Manager

Location: Balcatta WA 6021 About the Role: Advance Well Technologies (AWT) is seeking an experienced engineering professional to lead the development, testing, commercialization and global deployment of its proprietary wireline-deployed downhole waterjet cutting technology for the oil and gas industry. This position will provide technical leadership across product development, equipment lifecycle management, engineering operations, manufacturing support, field deployments and customer technical engagement. The successful candidate will act as the company's Subject Matter Expert (SME) in high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure waterjet technology and play a key role in the development of innovative downhole intervention systems designed for global deployment.
Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Product Development - Act as the company's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high-pressure waterjet technology and provide technical direction to engineering, manufacturing and operations teams.
- Lead the engineering development of AWT's proprietary wireline-deployed downhole waterjet cutting systems from concept through to field-ready qualification.
- Evaluate and optimize nozzle selection, cutting head design, fluid flow characteristics, pressure requirements and cutting performance for downhole applications.
- Develop, implement and monitor engineering plans, project schedules, budgets and resource requirements for waterjet technology development programs.
- Oversee prototype design, testing, validation and qualification programs to ensure equipment meets performance, reliability and safety requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, root cause investigations and failure analysis activities to support product reliability and continuous improvement.
- Support intellectual property development, patent applications and technology innovation initiatives.
- Direct and coordinate engineering and technical activities while monitoring quality, safety,
delivery schedules, equipment performance and project outcomes.
Equipment
Lifecycle & Maintenance Management - Manage refurbishment, maintenance and asset integrity programs for waterjet systems and associated downhole equipment.
- Develop testing procedures, maintenance standards, inspection requirements and operational guidelines governing the secure and effective operation of waterjet cutting systems.
- Ensure equipment readiness, reliability and operational performance across AWT's global fleet of waterjet assets.
- Identify opportunities for design improvement, product enhancement and cost reduction initiatives.
Global
Operations & Customer Support - Support global deployment of waterjet equipment by coordinating technical readiness, logistics and field support activities for international projects.
- Participate in customer technical presentations, product demonstrations, tender support and engineering discussions.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support during field trials, qualification programs and commercial deployments.
- Liaise with customers, engineering partners, suppliers and service providers to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide engineering oversight to support manufacturing, workshop operations, equipment assembly and production readiness activities.
Knowledge
Transfer & Capability Development - Develop technical documentation, operating procedures, training materials and engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers, technicians and other personnel in waterjet technology and related engineering disciplines.
- Contribute to the development of internal engineering capability and support knowledge transfer to Australian employees.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering,
Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Extensive relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications where permitted under applicable migration and employment requirements.
Experience Requirements - Minimum 10 years' experience in high-pressure or ultra-high-pressure waterjet systems, industrial cutting technologies, engineering operations or related industrial equipment environments.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering project management, technical leadership and equipment development.
- Proven experience with high-pressure pumps, nozzles, flow systems, technical troubleshooting and engineered equipment solutions.
- Experience in prototype development, equipment testing, validation, commissioning and performance optimization.
- Experience supporting customer operations, technical service activities and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Highly
Desirable - Experience within the oil and gas, well intervention, petrochemical, energy, mining or heavy industrial sectors.
- Experience with downhole equipment, wireline systems or well intervention technologies.
- Experience supporting global operations and international equipment deployments.
Essential
Skills & Attributes - Advanced knowledge of high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure waterjet systems and cutting technologies.
- Strong understanding of fluid flow dynamics, pressure optimisation, nozzle performance and cutting efficiency.
- Excellent engineering problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lead engineering projects from concept through to commercial deployment.
- Robust understanding of equipment reliability, maintenance management and asset lifecycle planning.
