We’re recruiting on behalf of our client for a part-time HSE Advisor/Consultant on a 3-day-per-week, 12-month contract, providing hands-on HSE leadership and support within a major Sydney manufacturing operation.
Working closely with site leadership, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safety, compliance, wellbeing and environmental standards as the facility transitions through the wind-down of its manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and hands-on presence on the shop floor each day, engaging with frontline teams, observing work practices, identifying risks and providing practical HSE support.
- Manage compliance with group safety standards through self-assessments and participation in group and regional internal audits, identifying and addressing gaps and supporting site leadership to maintain compliance with group requirements.
- Be responsible and proactively implement global Business Unit assigned risk control programs or regional assigned HSE campaigns to achieve a world-class safety culture.
- Manage Site Safety Improvement Plans (SSIP) and work with the site leadership team to address local site focus and priorities action plans.
- Ensure adherence to the local HSE programs and policies in alignment with global company directives and Australian regulations.
- Establish behaviour-based safety audits and practical HSE training that involve all management and front-line people of the site.
- Monitor local regulatory updates and analyse OHS leading and lagging indicators, environmental emissions, energy consumption and CO₂ performance, providing professional recommendations to site leadership.
About you
- Bachelor-degree in safety engineering, or occupational health, or environmental engineering.
- At least 5 years EHS experience of related industries (Steel / Metal process / Special Material Process / Chemical process / manufacturing).
- Knowledgeable of national OHS, Environmental regulation and national standards.
- CSE (Certified Safety Engineer) or equivalent safety qualification is required.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) certification is highly regarded.
- Willingness to spend time on the shop floor each day and engage directly with operational teams.
- Solid team player with the ability to influence others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
