Your opportunity
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
- Providing support and strategic advice to the Group working across a broad and varied legal portfolio including customer and digital, leasing and development, workplace health and safety, design and construction, financial services regulation, managed investment schemes and funds management and compliance, competition and consumer issues and compliance with various other regulatory requirements
- Providing general commercial legal advice on business initiatives and projects including drafting all types of commercial agreements
- Close collaboration with the various corporate functions including finance, corporate affairs, risk and audit.
- Litigation and disputes (with focus on competition and consumer law issues, retail tenancy matters and contractual disputes) including working with external legal counsel to manage settlement outcomes
- Human Resources / employment law - basic advice, policy review and drafting and employee dispute matters
- Review and participation in government consultation on legislative changes including preparation of consultation submissions
- Assist in provision of information and training seminars to ensure legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to improve overall business processes
What will set you apart from the rest?
You will:
- Be a passionate, dynamic, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a high performing environment
- Be an Australian qualified lawyer (7+ years post admission experience) with solid general commercial / corporate experience from a combination of a top-tier or large mid-tier firm and in-house experience
- Have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide concise, practical legal advice to senior stakeholders (both internal and external)
- Be an experienced drafter who can manage, negotiate and document a variety of contractual arrangements
- Be organised and able to prioritise and deliver on numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure and will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
A level of experience working in or for property or funds management groups or legal practice would be well regarded.
