Employment Consultant – Asylum Seeker and Refugee Assistance (ASRA) - Brisbane
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for the role of Employment Consultant – Asylum Seeker and Refugee Assistance (ASRA) - Brisbane.
Contract Type: Maximum-term until 30 June 2027
Salary: Level 5.1
Days Per Week: 3 days per week (0.6) - with a possibility for 1 additional day, subject to program requirements.
The Employment Consultant is responsible for driving strategic employment outcomes for clients participating in the Asylum Seeker and Refugee Assistance (ASRA) program through high-level employer engagement, strategic recruitment activities, and workforce pathway development. This role serves as the organisation's subject matter expert on refugee and asylum seeker employment, balancing hands‑on recruitment focus with higher-level program leadership, contractual accountability, and partnership development. The role works closely with Multicultural Australia's case management and support teams, who provide psychosocial and wellbeing support to clients. The Employment Consultant is not the primary provider of intensive case management or therapeutic support.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the employment strategy for the ASRA program in consultation with the relevant Chief
- Contribute to the design and implementation of comprehensive employer engagement frameworks
- Identify system-wide workforce shortages and strategically align client capability to sustainable industry pipelines
- Act as the organisation's subject matter expert on refugee and asylum seeker employment
- Provide specialist advice to senior leaders, internal teams, and external stakeholders as it pertains to the ASRA program
- Support employers to understand deep cultural capability and systemic barriers impacting clients
- Lead the achievement of employment outcomes across the entire ASRA contract
- Take primary responsibility for the reporting of all ASRA employment outcomes and funding milestones
- Source and develop strategic employment opportunities for ASRA clients across a range of industries
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, labour hire companies, recruitment agencies, and industry stakeholders
About you
- Valid Queensland Driver's Licence
- Possession of a current, paid Working with Children's Blue Card
- National Police Clearance Check
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employment services, labour hire, workforce development, or strategic employer engagement
- Proven capability to lead program strategy and manage contractual performance/reporting within an employment services framework
- Advanced business development and high-level stakeholder relationship management capability
- Deep understanding of systemic barriers impacting employment participation for vulnerable cohorts, refugees, and asylum seekers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide specialist, authoritative advice to executive leaders
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and take ultimate accountability for contract deliverables
