Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking an experienced Lead Data Analyst (EL1 level) to deliver complex analysis, reporting and insights across a high-profile risk function.

This is a senior hands-on analytics role combining SQL, reporting, statistical analysis, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work across regular and ad hoc analytical requests, identify trends and risks, improve reporting governance and translate complex data into meaningful insights for senior stakeholders.

ROLE DETAILS:

Location: Richmond or Geelong VIC
Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension option
Working arrangement: Hybrid
Security: Must be able to obtain NV1
Eligibility: Australian Citizenship mandatory

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll lead analytical work across a range of operational and strategic risk initiatives, using data to answer complex business questions, identify trends and support evidence-based decision-making.

The role also includes improving reporting and quality assurance processes, presenting findings across different forums and mentoring less experienced analysts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Deliver regular,



one-off and ad hoc data analysis across risk-related initiatives.
- Analyse data and trends to identify risks, issues and opportunities.
- Develop and improve reporting, governance and quality assurance processes.
- Translate complex analysis into explicit insights and recommendations.
- Work with business areas to understand objectives, context and performance measures.
- Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support consistent use of data and reporting across the organisation.
- Mentor and support junior analysts.

SELECTION CRITERIA

- Strong data analytics capability, particularly SQL.
- Experience with SAS EG / SAS Viya highly regarded.
- Strong data visualisation and statistical analysis skills.
- Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking capability.
- Ability to communicate complex insights clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Fraud analytics experience highly regarded.
- Exposure to statistical modelling or machine learning desirable.
