About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Integration Specialist with deep expertise in IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM Integration Bus (IIB) to lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise integration solutions across a large and complex technology landscape.

Working within a high-performing integration team, you will play a key role in enabling seamless communication between legacy platforms, up-to-date applications, cloud services, APIs, databases, messaging platforms, and external partner environments.

This position will see you providing technical leadership across the full integration lifecycle, from architecture and solution design through development, deployment, optimisation, and ongoing operational support. You will collaborate closely with architects, cyber security teams, infrastructure specialists, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable integration capabilities.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead the design and implementation of complex enterprise integration solutions using IBM ACE and IIB.
- Develop and maintain message flows, APIs, reusable components, shared libraries, and integration frameworks.
- Design integration patterns supporting REST, SOAP, MQ, file-based integrations, databases, and cloud platforms.
- Partner with architecture and security teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, peer reviews, and guidance to integration engineers.
- Support CI/CD practices, release management, deployment automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Drive root cause analysis and performance optimisation activities for critical integration services.
- Contribute to integration roadmaps supporting modernisation and digital transformation outcomes.

The Successful Candidate To be successful in this position, you will bring a strong background delivering integration solutions within large, complex, and regulated environments.

You will possess

- 7+ years of experience working with IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and/or IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
- Advanced development capability across ESQL, Java Compute Nodes, XML, XSD, JSON Schema, XSLT, and message transformation frameworks.
- Strong experience integrating enterprise systems using IBM MQ, REST APIs, SOAP services, databases, file transfer solutions, and legacy platforms.
- Exposure to cloud-based integration architectures across Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments.




- Experience working with CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with API management and gateway technologies including IBM API Connect, Kong, Apigee, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of containerisation and Kubernetes-based deployment models.
- Strong understanding of authentication, encryption, certificates, secure communications, OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and enterprise security frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience operating within highly regulated, compliance-driven, or mission-critical environments.

- IBM App Connect Enterprise certifications.
- Experience delivering integration solutions within government, utilities, financial services, health, or other heavily regulated sectors.
