/n Finished school? Want to start an IT career?/n /n We’re looking for someone at the beginning of their working life who’s interested in technology, enjoys solving problems and wants an opportunity to learn IT by working in IT. /n /n Not exactly jumping at the idea of spending the next few years sitting in another classroom? We get it. /n /n If you’ve recently finished school, are into technology, good with people and would rather learn by actually doing the job, we might have the perfect place for you to start. /n /n We’re looking for an IT Support Trainee to join the Colton IT Support team in Orange. /n /n /n
- You don’t need an IT qualification.
/n
- You don’t need years of experience.
/n
- You don’t need to already know how to fix everything.
/n
- We’ll teach you.
/n /n /n What we do need is someone who’s curious, reliable, comfortable talking to people and genuinely interested in building a career in IT. /n What will you actually be doing?/n You’ll be one of the first people our business clients speak to when something goes wrong with their technology in their own company. /n /n You’ll: /n /n
- Answer incoming IT support calls
/n
- Listen to the problem and ask the right questions
/n
- Create clear support tickets for our technical team
/n
- Help with straightforward IT issues like password resets and account access
/n
- Help troubleshoot basic problems with computers, printers, monitors and other equipment
/n
- Learn which issues you can tackle yourself and which ones need an experienced technician
/n
- Get IT support requests into the right hands quickly
/n
- Learn from experienced IT technicians every day
/n
- Gradually take on more technical work as your skills grow
/n /n You’ll probably reset a lot of passwords. /n /n You’ll almost certainly meet a bit of software or hardware that refuses to cooperate. /n /n And you’ll learn a heap about working in IT. /n What else?/n This role has been designed as a starting point, not a dead end. /n /n If you’re leaving school and thinking: /n “I like technology, but uni really isn’t for me.” /n That’s completely okay. /n /n You might learn better by doing, asking questions, watching experienced people and having a go yourself. /n /n That’s exactly what this role offers. You’ll start with the foundations of IT support and build your knowledge through real-world experience. /n /n After 12 months, you’ll commence the Colton IT Trainee Program to continue developing your technical skills and work towards becoming a Level 1 Technician. /n /n Your pathway could look like: IT Support Trainee → Colton IT Trainee Program → Level 1 Technician → and onwards from there /n /n Pay rate will be Junior rates under the Award (depending on age) Who would be great for this role?/n You might be: /n /n
- Finishing Year 12 and wondering what comes next
/n
- Recently out of school and looking for your first career opportunity
/n
- Working in retail, hospitality or another junior role but secretly wanting to get into IT
/n
- The person everyone in the family goes to when the Wi-Fi isn’t working
/n
- Someone who loves computers and technology but doesn’t necessarily love classrooms and textbooks
/n
- Looking for a career where you can keep learning while you’re working
/n /n We’re much more interested in who you are and how you approach things than how impressive your résumé looks. /n /n We’d love you to be someone who: /n /n
- Enjoys helping people
/n
- Is confident having a conversation on the phone
/n
- Is curious and likes figuring things out
/n
- Has good attention to detail
/n
- Isn’t scared to ask questions
/n
- Can follow instructions and documented processes
/n
- Is reliable and turns up ready to learn
/n
- Works well as part of a team
/n
- Is genuinely excited about building a career in IT
/n /n Sounds like you? /n Everyone working in IT had to start somewhere. /n This could be your somewhere. /n /n If you’ve finished school, you’re ready to start working full time and you’d rather learn your IT skills through real-world experience, we’d love to hear from you. /n /n Tell us a little about yourself, why technology interests you and why you reckon you’d be a good fit for the team. /n (here’s a job search tip: check us out online, on our socials – we want you to know a little about us too) /n /n Come start your IT career with Colton Computer Technologies. /n
