About the Role

We are looking for an energetic, hands-on and people-focused Junior Area Manager to join the Bourke Street Bakery team and take responsibility for supporting and driving the performance of our South Sydney stores. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced café or hospitality manager who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop their skills across multiple locations.

You will initially work closely with one of our Senior Area Managers, starting in stores for the first 3 - 6 months as Store Manager roving and learning the Bourke Street Bakery ways of doing things - covering for Store Managers on annual leave. You will spend your time across all Sydney stores, ensuring our people, products, presentation and customer experience are consistently at the high standard expected of Bourke Street Bakery. When our new stores opening in 2027 you will then be ready to take on the Area Manager Role which will be focussed in the South of Sydney stores.

We would ideally love to have this person start before Christmas so you get to see and experience your first Christmas at Bourke Street Bakery.

Responsibilities

- Support the day-to-day management and performance of our stores.
- Work closely with Store Managers to achieve sales, labour and operational targets.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time.
- Assist with recruitment, interviews, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Coach, motivate and develop team members and future leaders.
- Ensure all Bourke Street Bakery processes, procedures and service standards are understood and followed.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising, product presentation, cleanliness and store appearance.




- Conduct regular store visits and identify opportunities to improve sales, service and operational performance.
- Provide hands-on management cover when Store Managers are away or additional support is required.
- Support the implementation of promotions, new products and sales initiatives.
- Monitor store performance and actively look for opportunities to grow sales and improve customer experience.
- Build strong relationships with Store Managers and team members and create a positive, high-energy culture.
- Lead by example and be prepared to get behind the coffee machine, serve customers and work alongside the team when needed.
- Communicate effectively with Senior Area Manager and Head Office.
- Ensure WHS, food safety and company policies and procedures are followed.
- Take on other responsibilities and projects as required.

About You

You will ideally come from a café, hospitality or multi-site retail management background and be someone who genuinely loves being around people.You will be:

- A natural people leader with proven people-management experience.
- High energy, positive and a self-starter.
- A “glass half full” person who looks for solutions rather than problems.
- Quick on your feet and comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- A great communicator who can build strong relationships with a wide range of people.




- Passionate about hospitality and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
- Commercially minded and motivated by growing sales and improving store performance.
- Organised and confident with rostering, recruitment and staff management.
- Hands-on and not afraid to jump in and help wherever required.
- Passionate about great coffee and confident operating a commercial coffee machine and making quality coffee.
- Someone who takes pride in presentation, product quality and attention to detail.
- Adaptable, resilient and comfortable working across different stores and teams.
- Experienced in training and coaching staff and getting the best out of people.

- Salary package of approximately $75,000–$85,000 + super, depending on experience.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
