Description:
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician - Level 1 to join our Processing team. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this role is responsible for supporting safe, productive and accurate laboratory operations through the preparation, analysis and reporting of geological and metallurgical samples, helping ensure production targets are achieved and quality standards are maintained.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong attention to detail and an interest in laboratory operations to develop their skills within a supportive and safety-focused mining environment.
This is a FIFO role, working on an 8:6 roster.
About the Role
Preparing geological and metallurgical samples for analysis, including sample registration, rolling, crushing and digestion
Conducting wet chemistry work, including Aqua Regia and bottle roll test work
Performing laboratory analyses in accordance with established standards, procedures and turnaround requirements
Operating, maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Calibrating equipment and preparing standards to ensure accurate test results
Applying analytical techniques, including Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and digestion chemistry
Recording, reporting and validating analytical results while supporting QA/QC processes
Identifying, investigating and reporting errors, hazards and equipment issues
Maintaining a safe and organised laboratory environment in line with site safety standards
- Assisting with other laboratory duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor
Skills and Experiences:
About You
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Good computer literacy and reporting capabilities
Strong numeracy, data analysis and problem-solving abilities The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
Experience with AAS and laboratory analytical techniques will be highly regarded A high performer with demonstrated experience working in wet lab environment, preferably in gold mining operations
Sound understanding and proven skills working with AAS, Aqua Regia Digest, gold bearing solid/solution/carbon sample preparation and assay, carbon activity test, and Gold-in-Circuit sampling and assaying processes A commitment to maintaining high safety, quality and environmental standards
Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant scientific discipline are desirable but not essential
