Primary objective

Support the Preschool Teacher in Charge with administrative tasks as required and provide guidance to other preschool educators.

Context statement

Bakewell Primary School is a large Independent Public School located in Palmerston, committed to delivering excellence in education with a focus on positive relationships and high expectations. The school has a current enrolment of approximately 620 students from Preschool to Year 6, with about 18% identifying as Aboriginal, 30% who have a language background other than English,



and 15% who have English as an additional language / dialect and thus require support to develop English language proficiency. Key initiatives at Bakewell Primary

School include Explicit Instruction pedagogical practices, explicit and structured frameworks for both Literacy and Maths, and School Wide

Positive Behaviour. Team-oriented planning in teaching teams is strongly embedded, and students have high access to digital technology devices to enhance their learning.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Mentor other preschool educators.
- Assume leadership of a preschool group for periods of the day.
- Take on administrative tasks involved in the operation of the preschool as required.
- Modelling the application of the preschool’s policies and procedures.
- Modelling of developmentally appropriate practices in working with preschool aged children.

Selection criteria

Essential

- ACECQA recognised Diploma level qualification, and extensive experience working in a Preschool.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice in a preschool and working with the National Quality Framework.
- Proven interpersonal skills working with children, co-workers, parents, diverse backgrounds and demonstration of cultural awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to department and school policies and processes, with strict adherence to WHS and safety and wellbeing of children.
- Experience supporting and leading the administration load of preschool.
- Ability to provide guidance to other preschool educators.
