We're seeking a Lead Microvellum Detailer – Drafting Team Leader to join the team!

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Microvellum detailer to combine hands-on technical drafting with leadership responsibility. Spending the majority of time on detailed drafting and engineering output, with the remainder guiding a small team, this role suits someone who enjoys staying close to the technical work while growing into a leadership capacity. There's also the exciting prospect of helping shape the business's future software transition, offering genuine scope to leave a lasting mark on how the team operates.

About Us For more than 35 years, we've been manufacturing, supplying, and installing kitchen cabinetry and customised commercial joinery across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast. Based in Northgate with a team of around 60 skilled professionals, the business is known for its commitment to quality and delivering projects in full and on time. Guided by core values of respect, teamwork, communication, integrity, and achievement, the team takes pride in creating modern, functional joinery solutions for commercial and residential clients alike.

What you'll be doing?

- Producing detailed drafting and engineering outputs: Spending the majority of time hands-on in Microvellum, generating manufacturing-ready drawings, cut lists, and CNC machine data for production, outputting to Woodtron CNCs and working alongside Cabinet Vision.
- Owning the Microvellum library: Acting as custodian of the Microvellum library, ensuring it stays accurate, current, and continually improved.
- Coordinating drafting workflow: Working with the Leadership Team and Project Managers to keep drafting outcomes on track for productivity, quality, and delivery.
- Guiding and checking team output:

Reviewing and supporting the work of four internal draftspeople and remote drafting resources, helping maintain consistency and quality across the team.
- Leading team meetings and improvement discussions: Running regular check-ins focused on safety, quality, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coaching and developing drafting talent: Mentoring team members and helping build solid drafting practices across the group.
- Contributing to a future systems transition: Playing a part in exploring and eventually supporting a shift toward Innergy engineering, with training and support provided along the way.
- Reporting on team performance: Preparing periodic updates on job and team outcomes for the General Manager.
- Shaping a positive team culture: Helping build a motivated, quality-focused team with a shared drive to succeed.

Who are they looking for?

- Genuine hands-on Microvellum experience: Substantial, practical experience using Microvellum within commercial joinery, cabinetry, or shopfitting manufacturing is essential, as this forms the core of the role.
- Confidence reviewing others' work: Some experience coaching, checking, or guiding the output of other drafters, even informally, would be well regarded.
- Manufacturing-ready drafting skills: Ability to produce accurate drawings, cut lists, and CNC-ready data for complex joinery projects.
- Technical software familiarity: Exposure to Cabinet Vision or similar joinery engineering software is helpful,

as is any experience integrating engineering data with CNC machinery or ERP/MRP systems.
- Openness to new systems: Interest or willingness to be involved in a future transition to Innergy would be an advantage, though full experience in this area is not required.
- People and communication skills: A collaborative, approachable style that supports effective teamwork across drafting and production functions.
- Leadership potential: Prior experience leading or developing leadership capability, including any exposure to Lean or continuous improvement principles, would be a nice-to-have rather than essential.
- Attention to detail: A sharp eye for identifying potential errors or omissions when reviewing drafting work.
- English language proficiency: Clear communication skills in English are important for liaising with team members, clients, and management across daily operations.

Why you should consider this opportunity? We offer an attractive remuneration package and other benefits, such as:

- Competitive salary and superannuation, with flexible negotiation based on experience.
- Convenient on-site parking available via nearby streets.
- Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options for the broader team.
- Four weeks of annual leave to support work-life balance.
- The opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role while remaining close to the technical craft, within a well-established and values-driven organisation.
