Elmwood Early Learning Centre is looking for a warm, caring, agile and creative Kindergarten Teacher to join the team on a 12-month maternity leave contract commencing January 2027. The role involves creating engaging, meaningful and memorable learning experiences for children in a kindergarten setting that goes beyond the traditional kindergarten experience.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an engaging kindergarten program
- Support children's emotional regulation and behaviour using positive behaviour guidance and management strategies
- Create learning experiences that are play-based and follow children's interests
- Actively engage with children in hands-on learning activities
- Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Encourage children's creativity, curiosity and sense of belonging
- Participate in and support unique programs including Bush Kinder, Kind Mind, Library Program, ELLA French Program, and nature and sustainability learning
- Communicate effectively with families and work collaboratively as part of a team
About you
Warm, nurturing and genuinely passionate about children
Dynamic, creative and enthusiastic
Experienced Kindergarten Teacher, with preference given to candidates with previous experience in a kindergarten setting
Confident developing and delivering an engaging kindergarten program
Passionate about play-based learning and following children's interests
Familiar with positive behaviour guidance and management strategies
Calm, respectful and confident when supporting children's emotional regulation and behaviour
Creative and willing to think outside the box
Strong communicator who builds positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
Organised, reliable and able to work collaboratively as part of a team
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent approved qualification
Current VIT registration required

Essential requirements
- Approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification recognised by ACECQA
- Current VIT registration as an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT)
- Current Working with Children Check (where applicable)
- Experience working within a kindergarten program is highly regarded
