About the Role

This role supports the Business Partner, Data & Finance to deliver accurate geographic and site selection analysis for our veterinary and healthcare clients. Most of the role is building and checking the catchment analysis behind our Geographic Area Recommendation reports, with some support on client cashflow and feasibility models. This would involve but is not limited to:

- Reviewing catchment data in Tableau (population, growth, demographics, pet ownership, drive-time, competitor supply) and checking it against source
- Correcting and maintaining the underlying database so it is current and accurate
- Interpreting each client's CAP and questionnaire, and applying their specific requirements to the area analysis
- Drafting area recommendations and supporting commentary for client reports.

Key Accountabilities

- Accuracy of the data behind every geographic report. Every figure used in a recommendation is traced back to the database and, where needed, to the original source (ABS, State government, clinic websites, Google Maps, council and property listings)
- Correcting the database where it is wrong or out of date (e.g. clinics that have closed, opened, moved or merged, duplicate records, incorrect addresses or coordinates, wrong service type)
- Manually checking outputs rather than accepting them as given. This includes Tableau outputs, automated calculations and AI-generated drafts
- Reading each client's CAP and questionnaire and translating them into the criteria that apply to that client (e.g. target demographic, species or patient mix, service model, proximity to home or existing sites, travel time, competitor tolerance)
- Shortlisting and ranking catchments against those criteria, recommending three priority areas with clear reasoning, and documenting the other areas considered and why they were not prioritised
- Interpreting the demographic profile of each catchment (age structure,

household composition, income, growth, and migration patterns) against the client's target market, and recognising when a headline figure is misleading at small-area level
- Supporting cashflow and feasibility models with input checks and data preparation
- Maintaining project trackers (internal tool).

Decision Making

- Operate with autonomy within agreed scope and the client brief
- Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of all data prepared and all database changes made
- Escalate conflicting or unverifiable data rather than making assumptions.

Ideal Candidate: You’re organised, methodical, and happy to work behind the scenes ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. You enjoy research, are resourceful with online research, and you thrive in an environment where you manage your own workflow.

You will be located in Sydney, Australia.

To be considered for this role, you must hold Australian Citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency. Applicants holding temporary work or student/graduate visas will not be processed.

You Will Have:

- 2-4 years of experience in a data, research, analytics or similar role where accuracy was a core part of the job
- Hands-on experience with Tableau (or Power BI)- filtering, drilling down and cross-checking outputs, not only building dashboards
- Comfort working directly in a database: finding, checking and correcting records (SQL is an advantage)
- A solid understanding of demographics: population structure, household and family composition,

drivers of population growth (births, deaths, migration), and how these translate into demand for health and veterinary services
- Working knowledge of ABS Census data and ASGS geographies (SA1, SA2, LGA), including the limitations- Census timing, the difference between Census counts, ERP and projections, and small-area volatility
- Strong experience with Excel
- Demonstrated attention to detail, with examples of catching errors others missed
- Sound numeracy, including indices, per capita ratios, growth rates and weighted scoring, and an understanding of what each can and can't tell you
- Ability to read a client brief and work out what matters for that client, including what they haven't said directly
- Clear written and verbal communication- able to explain in plain language why an area was recommended or excluded
- Confidence to ask questions when a brief or a data point is unclear.

Nice to Have:

- Study in demography, geography, population health, economics or social research
- GIS or drive-time analysis experience (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, isochrones)
- Knowledge of veterinary, healthcare (including dental) or commercial property sectors
- Some exposure to cashflow or financial modelling

We Offer:

- Small but growing boutique consultancy
- Flexible family-friendly hours (school hours considered)
- Sydney-based HQ in Hunters Hill with additional offices in Melbourne (clients nationwide)
- Lean and agile team of subject matter experts
- Friendly working workplace

(Salary includes superannuation) Pay: $70,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate

- Hunters Hill NSW 2110: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
