Looking for a permanent Maintenance Fitter role with excellent earning potential, a structured roster and plenty of days off?

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business in Broadmeadows seeking an experienced, trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter with a minimum of 5 years' hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.

This is a hands-on maintenance position working across production machinery, with a strong focus on breakdowns, fault finding, preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.

- Upto $55 per hour base rate

- 15% shift loading

- Saturday – 1.5x

- Sunday – 2x

? The role

You'll be responsible for keeping production machinery operating safely and reliably, including:

- Preventative and breakdown maintenance

- Mechanical fault finding and repairs

- Diagnosing production machinery faults

- Maintaining conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, chains and belts

- Pneumatic systems and mechanical components

- Planned maintenance and equipment inspections

- Machinery strip-downs and component replacement

- Welding and fabrication work

- Equipment repairs, installations, modifications and upgrades

- Identifying recurring faults and assisting with reliability improvements

- Working closely with Production to minimise downtime





- Completing maintenance records and documentation

? What we're looking for

- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting), or equivalent recognised trade qualification

- Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Maintenance Fitter

- Strong experience in a manufacturing, production or industrial workplace

- Demonstrated breakdown maintenance and mechanical fault-finding experience

- Strong preventative and planned maintenance experience

- Hands-on experience maintaining production machinery

- Welding and fabrication experience

- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults with minimal supervision

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work a rotating 12-hour day/night roster

- Strong commitment to workplace safety

Food manufacturing experience is highly regarded but not essential.

We're particularly interested in candidates from food and beverage, FMCG, packaging, pharmaceutical, plastics, recycling or other high-volume manufacturing environments.

We're looking for someone who is genuinely hands-on and comfortable responding to breakdowns in a busy production environment.

You'll be someone who can identify the problem, work through the fault logically and get equipment running again safely — while also understanding the importance of preventative maintenance and long-term equipment reliability.
