Hays is excited to be partnering with a leading major Victorian public health service to recruit an experienced Maintenance Planner to join their Engineering & Facilities team. This is an exciting prospect to play a critical role in the planning, scheduling, and optimisation of maintenance activities across a diverse portfolio of healthcare facilities, ensuring essential infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and operational.
About the role
You will be responsible for coordinating preventative, corrective, and statutory maintenance programs, supporting asset reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with facilities teams, contractors, and key stakeholders, you will help drive maintenance performance across a complex healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules for building services and critical infrastructure assets.
- Utilise Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to plan, schedule, and track maintenance activities.
- Coordinate labour, contractors, materials, permits, equipment, and risk mitigation requirements to support efficient maintenance delivery.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedules to optimise resource allocation and minimise service disruptions.
- Monitor and manage maintenance backlogs, ensuring work orders are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain and manage asset registers, asset condition assessments, and lifecycle planning programs.
- Analyse maintenance history and asset performance data to identify opportunities for reliability and efficiency improvements.
- Coordinate statutory inspections, testing, certification programs, and compliance activities across critical infrastructure systems.
- Support the management of maintenance contracts and monitor contractor performance against service level agreements.
- Conduct site inspections to verify maintenance work and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Liaise with clinical and operational stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise impacts on service delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, CMMS optimisation, asset management strategies, and maintenance planning processes.
Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications in Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Services, Asset Management.
- Proven experience in maintenance planning, facilities management, engineering services, or asset management within a complex operational environment.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
- Experience planning maintenance activities within healthcare, hospital, or similarly complex environments.
- Knowledge of healthcare engineering standards and accreditation requirements.
- Experience coordinating maintenance projects, shutdowns, or infrastructure renewal programs.
- Training or certification in Asset Management, Reliability Engineering, or Maintenance Planning.
- Thorough understanding of essential services regulations and critical infrastructure maintenance.
- Strong understanding of maintenance compliance, statutory requirements, and asset management principles.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate large maintenance programs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, building compliance requirements, and industry standards.
