Premier Services Group is looking for a Management Accountant to own our payroll-to-GL processing and labour cost analysis – a newly focused role at the heart of our Finance team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll take ownership of weekly payroll processing into the general ledger and become the go-to expert on labour cost performance across the business. You’ll ensure labour costs are allocated to jobs at accurate recovery rates, investigate variances, and provide the CFO and operational leaders with the financial insight they need to make smart, cost-effective workforce decisions – including modelling the impact of EBA changes on profitability.

What You’ll Do

- Process weekly payroll results into the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding by cost centre, job and department.
- Analyse overtime trends and flag adverse cost movements to leadership.
- Allocate labour costs to jobs and periodically review and update labour recovery rates.
- Investigate and explain labour over/under recovery by employee, job and cost centre.
- Distinguish fixed versus variable labour costs to support budgeting and margin analysis.
- Build financial models and scenario analyses on the most cost-effective use of labour (e.g.



employment vs subcontracting, overtime vs headcount).
- Quantify the financial impact of Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) and Modern Award changes on wages, on-costs and profitability.
- Prepare management reporting on labour cost performance and drive continuous improvement in payroll costing and job cost allocation.

About You

- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CA/CPA qualified or working towards completion.
- 3+ years’ experience in management accounting or cost accounting, ideally with payroll costing or labour-intensive industry exposure.
- Strong understanding of job costing principles and labour recovery rate methodology.
- Experience reconciling and posting payroll journals to the general ledger.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modelling).
- Confident interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements from a financial perspective.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data for non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience with Sage and/or Micropay, and multi-entity or field services/trades organisations, is highly regarded.
