About the role
Reporting to the CEO and Publisher, you'll lead a small editorial team and work closely with our partnerships team, designers, freelancers and clients. This is a role for someone who enjoys both shaping publications and doing the work: developing ideas, interviewing people, writing stories, editing copy and keeping projects moving.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver print and digital editorial across our publications and client projects
- Write and edit engaging, accurate content for student, educator and professional audiences
- Lead and support our editorial team and freelance contributors
- Manage schedules, commissioning, approvals and production deadlines
- Build robust relationships with clients, researchers and education partners
- Maintain editorial quality and consistency across sponsored and independent content
- Manage social media campaigns using scheduling tools
- Plan and manage digital campaigns in Google Ads, and track performance using Google Analytics
About you
- Experienced editor or senior journalist with excellent writing skills, sound judgement and a record of delivering publications or content projects
- Ability to translate complex topics into accessible stories,
adapt your voice for different audiences and balance creative ambition with practical deadlines and budgets
- Comfortable working directly with clients and supporting colleagues in a small, collaborative team
- Extensive experience with WordPress
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and Photoshop
- Confident using Canva, Mailchimp and other digital publishing tools
- Experience in science, education, careers or youth publishing highly valued
- Experience delivering commercial or custom publishing projects highly valued
