IMS Marine is looking for a technically minded, hands-on person to join our growing team in Wangara.
This isn't your typical workshop job. Our work combines 3D scanning and design, CNC manufacturing, marine electrical systems, custom dash and switch panel production, marine flooring, audio and lighting, boat fit-outs and product development.
No two days are the same, and we don't expect you to already know everything. We're looking for the right person with the attitude and aptitude to learn.
The Role
You'll work across a range of marine manufacturing and fit-out projects, including:
- 3D scanning boats and components
- CAD design, templating and product development
- CNC manufacturing of custom Marine Mat flooring
- Manufacturing Nauti Boat Bits switch panels and dash panels
- Building and labelling wiring harnesses
- Marine electrical systems and wiring
- Marine audio and lighting installation
- Boat fit-outs and accessory installation
- CO₂ laser operation
- 3D printing and prototyping
- Product assembly, testing and quality control
- Developing better jigs, fixtures and manufacturing processes
One day you could be 3D scanning a boat, the next CNC machining a flooring package, building and wiring a custom dash panel or carrying out an installation onboard a customer's boat.
Who We're Looking For
You'll ideally be someone who:
- Is technically minded, practical and enjoys building things
- Takes pride in doing things properly
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems
- Is comfortable with computers and learning new software
- Is reliable, organised and self-motivated
- Takes ownership of their work
- Naturally looks for better ways of doing things
- Has an interest in boats, fishing or the marine industry
Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded: marine or auto electrical, boat fit-out, CAD, CNC machining, 3D scanning, laser cutting, 3D printing or marine manufacturing. You don't need experience in every area, but a strong technical background and a willingness to learn are important.
A current manual driver's licence is required.

Continuous Improvement
We're big believers in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
We encourage everyone in the team to find ways to improve quality, eliminate waste, reduce rework and develop better manufacturing processes.
You don't need previous Lean experience, but you do need to enjoy solving problems and finding better ways of doing things.
