Automotive Mechanic / Technician & Apprentice

Mickleham Mechanics and Tyres is a growing automotive service centre committed to providing high-quality vehicle repairs, servicing and exceptional customer service. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean, safe and professional workshop environment.
We are currently looking for Automotive Mechanics/Technicians and 1st or 2nd Year Apprentices to join our growing team.
Job Overview
We are seeking motivated and reliable people who are passionate about the automotive industry.
For qualified mechanics, the role will involve diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
For apprentices, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your practical skills and gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced mechanics in a professional workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including logbook servicing, oil changes, brake repairs and tyre replacements.
- Assist with diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic scan tools and equipment.
- Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.
- Carry out vehicle inspections and identify potential safety and maintenance issues.
- Follow workshop procedures and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment in accordance with OHS requirements.
- Complete repair orders and accurately record work performed and parts used.
- Communicate clearly with the workshop manager regarding vehicle faults and required repairs.
- Apprentices will receive hands-on training and guidance from experienced technicians while working towards their qualification.
Qualifications & ExperienceQualified Automotive Mechanic / Technician
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
- Valid driver's licence — manual licence preferred.
- Strong mechanical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a busy workshop environment.
- Basic hand tools required; specialist equipment and diagnostic scan tools provided.
1st & 2nd Year Apprentices
- Currently undertaking, or looking to commence, a Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology apprenticeship.
- Genuine interest in automotive repair and the desire to build a career in the automotive industry.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Reliable, punctual and motivated.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or previous workshop experience is an advantage but not essential for the right applicant.
