About us:

We are currently looking for an experienced and capable Motor Mechanic to join our team at Besterwitch, Ashley Trading as Jim's Car Detailing (Ascot Vale East). The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs and routine maintenance across a range of vehicles. The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical knowledge, relevant motor mechanic experience, good diagnostic and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a rapid-paced mobile service environment.

The Role:

We are looking for Motor Mechanic who can work within a dynamic and high performing environment.

Key duties will include but not limited to:

- Carry out inspections and diagnostic checks on vehicles to identify the source of engine, electrical, braking, steering, suspension and other mechanical problems, using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Undertake routine servicing and preventative maintenance including oil and filter replacement, fluid checks, brake servicing, battery checks and manufacturer-recommended service requirements to maintain vehicle reliability and performance.
- Remove and examine faulty or worn vehicle components such as engine parts, belts, hoses, braking components, suspension parts and clutch components, determining whether they require repair, adjustment or replacement.




- Complete mechanical repairs and component replacements across engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension and related vehicle systems, ensuring parts are correctly fitted and the vehicle is returned to proper operating condition.
- Use electronic scan tools and other diagnostic equipment to investigate warning lights, fault codes and vehicle performance issues, interpret test results and determine the appropriate repair work required.
- Conduct post-repair testing and vehicle checks to verify that mechanical systems are functioning correctly, including checking vehicle operation, handling, braking and engine performance before completing the service.

Key Requirements:

- Relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic or in related field
- Solid diagnostic and fault-finding skills across a range of vehicle systems.
- Proficient in the use of modern diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current and valid Australian driver’s license.
- Certificate III or equivalent qualifications.

Salary:

- $80,000 per year salary annually. Exclusive of superannuation.
