Myles Ward and Whittaker Ward | Noarlunga Hospital

If you're passionate about caring for older people and want to work somewhere your skills truly matter, we'd love to hear from you.

Myles Ward is a 36-bed unit at Noarlunga Hospital caring for patients with acute and sub-acute medical conditions. This includes General Medicine patients and those experiencing geriatric syndromes such as frailty, falls and dementia. Our patients are often vulnerable and complex - making thoughtful, person-centred nursing so important.

Whittaker Ward is a 25-bed GEM ward at Noarlunga Hospital, caring for patients with chronic or complex conditions associated with ageing, cognitive dysfunction, chronic illness and disability. The ward includes a gym, lounge-dining area and therapy kitchen to support rehabilitation alongside medical care.

Both wards are supportive, team-focused environments where people look out for one another. Whether you're applying as an ENC-END, RN1 or experienced RN2C, you'll join a team that values compassion, collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.

Both wards are part of the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care (Div RAP), known for its strong focus on staff wellbeing. This includes fortnightly wellbeing touchpoints, surprise 'Apple and Doughnut Days', dedicated education teams, culturally safe spaces, wellbeing grants, celebrations and recognition - plus plenty of encouragement to achieve your personal goals.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide direct, person-centred care on a 24 hour - 7-day roster, supporting patients and their families through what can be a challenging time.

Depending on your experience, you may also:

Take on team leader responsibilities on shift (after being upskilled and trained)

Support and guide students and less experienced staff

Contribute to education and quality improvement activities and ideas

Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure patients' goals of care are understood and respected

Provide health education to patients and carers to help improve outcomes beyond their hospital stay

What we're looking for

We're looking for nurses who:

Communicate clearly and kindly

Can problem-solve and stay calm in complex situations

Are adaptable and open to new ideas

Love to "think outside the box"

Have experience or a strong interest in caring for older people

Enjoy supporting and mentoring others

Have an interest in improving the lives and experience of our patients and families.

Provide the same level of care, compassion and clinical skill they would want for their own loved ones For RN2C (Clinical Nurse) applicants:

You'll need at least three years post-registration experience; with demonstrated clinical leadership and examples of safety or quality initiatives you've helped lead and implement.

Please see the attached Role Descriptions for additional information.
