The Role
As a Project Scheduler within the Joint Command, Control, Communications and Computers Systems (JC4S) Branch you will be responsible for developing an Integrated Master Schedule integrating data from projects and products, maintaining, analysing, and reporting performance to support the delivery of Defence capability outcomes.
Working with stakeholders you will be responsible for providing project governance by identifying schedule risks, dependencies, critical path activities, and opportunities for schedule optimisation. Your role includes analysing performance, identifying schedule variances, risks and opportunities, and providing advice to enable informed decision-making.
You will ensure compliance with Defence governance frameworks and contribute to planning and reporting activities that underpin program success. This position requires robust knowledge of scheduling principles, proficiency with scheduling tools, and the ability to operate within structured project management processes to support capability outcomes.
About our Team
Joint Command, Control, Communications and Computers Systems (JC4S) Branch integrates, acquires and sustains information technology capabilities to enhance the combat effectiveness of the Australian Defence Force across Australia and in operational theatres overseas.
JC4S Branch consists of four System Program Offices (SPOs):
- Information Assurance (IASPO);
- Maritime and Strategic Communications (MSCSPO);
- Integrated Warfighting Networks (IWNSPO); and
- Integrated Command Control and Communications (IC3SPO).
In combination,
these SPOs provide computer applications that support the planning and conduct of operations, including IT infrastructure and geographic information systems for deployed military forces across the Maritime (surface and sub-surface), Land, Aerospace and Cyber Domains.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate has experience in project scheduling within complex projects or Defence environments, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You should be able to develop and maintain integrated schedules, assess performance, and provide clear recommendations. Attributes such as problem-solving ability, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication are essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Conduct of critical path, milestone, trend, and schedule performance analysis.
- Production of regular schedule status reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for project and product governance forums.
- Ability to identify emerging schedule risks, issues, and opportunities and provide recommendations to project leadership.
- Support to project reviews, assurance activities, and governance forums through the provision of accurate schedule information.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritise and deliver in a timely manner.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including communicating clear and confidently, both orally and written.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
