The opportunity

We’re looking for a People Operations Partner who can bring together great HR support, strong systems thinking and exceptional attention to detail across payroll and people operations.

This isn’t a traditional payroll role, and it isn’t an HR role where you’ll spend your day writing policies.

It sits right in the middle of our business, supporting leaders, solving people problems, owning our people systems and making sure the experience from “you’re hired” through to payroll and beyond is simple, accurate and works.

Working as part of our People & Culture team, you’ll partner with leaders across City Venue Management while taking ownership of some of the most important operational parts of our employee lifecycle.

With a large, predominantly casual workforce, there is plenty happening, new starters, employee movements, payroll, compliance and the everyday people questions that come with a fast-moving operational business.

A major part of your role will be owning and continuously improving our HRIS, including the onboarding of new employees and ensuring our people data and processes are accurate, efficient and easy for our teams to navigate.

You’ll also play an important role in payroll. We aren’t looking for someone who simply processes a pay run,



we want someone who understands how payroll, HR systems, employment conditions and the employee experience all connect.

What you’ll own

- Partnering with managers on day-to-day people matters and providing practical HR advice and support
- Managing the employee lifecycle from onboarding through to employee changes, transfers and offboarding
- Ownership and administration of FoundU, our HRIS and workforce management platform
- Coordinating high-volume onboarding across our predominantly casual workforce
- Supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Reviewing payroll exceptions, employee changes and data accuracy
- Supporting the interpretation and application of relevant Modern Awards, employment conditions and workplace policies
- Maintaining accurate employee records, contracts and compliance documentation
- Working with managers to resolve payroll and employment queries
- Using workforce data and reporting to identify trends, issues and opportunities
- Identifying opportunities to automate, simplify and improve our people processes
- Supporting broader People & Culture initiatives, projects and workforce priorities across CVM

Who we’re looking for You’ll probably have experience across HR, people operations, payroll or workforce systems but we’re less interested in the exact title you’ve held and more interested in what you can do.

You’ll be someone who:

- Enjoys being close to operations and working directly with leaders
- Understands that valuable HR needs to be practical, commercial and responsive
- Has payroll experience and understands the importance of getting the detail right
- Is confident working with HRIS and workforce management systems – FoundU experience would be fantastic, but isn’t essential




- Is comfortable managing high-volume onboarding and employee movements
- Understands Modern Awards and the complexities of a casualised workforce
- Loves finding a better way of doing things rather than accepting “that’s how we’ve always done it”
- Can move comfortably between detail and bigger-picture thinking
- Builds relationships easily and communicates well with people at every level
- Takes ownership and follows things through
