Great work-life balance | Early starts & early finishes | Varied maintenance role | Long-term stability
Looking for a plumbing role that offers variety without the constant pressure of residential call-outs, quoting and travelling from job to job?
Woodlands Enterprises is looking for an experienced Plumber / Gas Fitter to join our maintenance team.
This is a great opportunity for a qualified tradesperson who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants the security of a permanent role, predictable working arrangements and the opportunity to become part of a long-established Australian business.
About Woodlands
Woodlands is a proudly Australian, family-owned business with more than 100 years of experience in poultry farming.
Our fully integrated operations include feed milling, hatchery, farming and processing, creating a diverse working environment with a wide range of plumbing, gas and maintenance requirements.
Unlike a traditional residential or commercial plumbing business, you will work across our own facilities as part of an established maintenance team.
Why You’ll Enjoy Working at Woodlands
We recognise that salary is only one part of choosing where you work.
Woodlands offers a range of benefits designed to provide stability, work-life balance and a positive workplace, including:
- Early starts and early finishes – get your afternoon back.
- Permanent, stable employment with a long-established Australian family business.
- Birthday Leave – enjoy an additional day of leave to celebrate your birthday.
- Access to our employee benefits program, offering a range of discounts and benefits.
- Funky Friday events and other employee engagement activities throughout the year.
- Varied work across multiple sites and facilities – not the same plumbing job every day.
- A supportive maintenance team and strong safety culture.
- The opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing organisation.
- No residential customers, quoting jobs or chasing the next job across town.
About the Role Reporting to the Plumbing Manager, you will undertake scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, installations and upgrades across Woodlands' facilities.
The role provides genuine variety and would suit someone who enjoys troubleshooting, solving practical problems and taking ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain water, plumbing, heating and gas systems.
- Maintain and upgrade water treatment facilities.
- Install and repair hot and cold water and gas pipework.
- Complete planned and reactive maintenance across buildings, sheds and operational facilities.
- Maintain accurate records, tools and equipment.
- Assist with sourcing materials and job preparation.
- Participate in the plumbing team's on-call roster.
How Does On-Call Work? We know on-call arrangements are important when considering a new role, so we want to be upfront about how ours operates.
On-call is rostered for one week at a time, rather than being an ongoing requirement.
When you are rostered on-call, an additional on-call allowance is paid. If you are required to attend a call-out, you are also paid for the attendance in addition to the on-call allowance.
The arrangement provides the business with after-hours support when required while ensuring the responsibility is shared across the team.
About You
You are a reliable,
safety-focused tradesperson who takes pride in your workmanship and enjoys being part of a practical, supportive team.
You will ideally bring
- Trade qualification in Plumbing and Gas Fitting.
- Queensland Plumbing Licence
- Strong hands-on plumbing experience.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- A practical and commercially minded approach to problem solving.
- A positive attitude and willingness to support your teammates.
- The ability to work independently when required.
Physical & Work Requirements The position includes practical trade work across an operational agricultural environment. You will need to be:
- Able to undertake manual and physically demanding work.
- Comfortable working in hot, cold or wet environments.
- Confident using power tools and appropriate PPE.
- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces where required.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Looking for a Change? If you're an experienced plumber who wants stable employment, diverse work, early finishes and a workplace where you can become part of the team rather than simply moving from job to job, we'd like to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and cover letter via SEEK or email
[email protected].
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a PredictFit online assessment. This assists Woodlands in determining a candidate's capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role and supports our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
Please note: Due to our strict biosecurity requirements, we are unable to consider candidates who keep avian species at home, including birds, chickens or ducks.
Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Overseas applicants will not be considered.
