MEC is looking for an experienced People & Culture professional to join our team on a 12-month Parental Leave Contract, working 4 days per week.
You will join an established P&C; function with a clear strategy, strong foundations and key initiatives already underway. Working closely with the Executive and Management teams, you will lead the P&C; function across recruitment, employee relations, performance, development, engagement, retention and remuneration.
What to expect
- Deliver MEC’s established P&C; strategy and priorities, ensuring initiatives progress and outcomes are achieved.
- Partner with leaders to provide practical, commercially focused people advice.
- Lead recruitment alongside our Senior Recruitment Advisor, along with workforce planning to support MEC’s continued growth.
- Oversee and contribute to employee experience, performance, development, engagement and retention.
- Provide leadership on employee relations and compliance.
- Lead remuneration and reward processes.
- Drive effective use of P&C; systems, data and reporting. We currently use Employment Hero.
- Lead and support the P&C; team, providing clear priorities, coaching and direction.
- Champion MEC’s values, culture and continued organisational development.
About You
You’ll be an experienced HR professional who can hit the ground running, build trusted relationships quickly and balance strategic thinking with a practical, hands‑on approach. Above all, you’ll be proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done. In addition, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline. Significant HR Business Partnering and Recruitment experience.
- Solid understanding of employment laws and regulations in Australia.
- Proficient in HR software (preferably Employment Hero) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams. You will have 3 direct reports.
- Strong commercial judgement, communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Meaning you are able to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and confidence, and provide clear, practical advice to employees and leaders.
