The Role
n
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused
National Payroll Manager
to join our team based in Parramatta.
n
Reporting to the
National Payroll Process Owner
, you will lead the delivery of accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services across Heidelberg Materials Australia. Managing a team of
7 direct reports
, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of payroll processes to support a large and geographically dispersed workforce.

This role is ideally suited to a seasoned payroll leader with strong SAP expertise, exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll professionals.
n
Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services across the organisation.
n
Maintain compliance with Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation requirements, awards, and enterprise agreements.
n
Drive payroll governance, risk management, and audit compliance activities.
n
Lead payroll process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
Act as the payroll subject matter expert for SAP Payroll and related system enhancements.
n
Partner closely with HR, Finance, IT, and operational leaders to improve payroll service delivery and employee experience.
n
Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations, month-end activities, and statutory obligations.
n
Manage payroll-related projects, including legislative changes, system upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
n
Build strong stakeholder relationships across the business while fostering a culture of service excellence and accountability.
n

About You
n
You are an experienced payroll leader who thrives in a complex and fast-paced environment. You possess strong technical payroll knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes.
n

Essential Experience
n
n
Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll operations within a large, complex organisation.
n
Demonstrated experience leading and developing payroll teams.
n
Strong hands-on experience with SAP Payroll is essential.
n
Extensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
n
Experience driving payroll transformation, process improvements, and system optimisation initiatives.
n
Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.
n

Qualifications
n
n
Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related discipline is desirable.
n
Payroll qualifications and professional memberships will be highly regarded.
