South Yarra Volkswagen is seeking an
Experienced Parts Interpreter - Automotive
to join our team on a
full-time basis.
This role is fundamental to our operations, serving as the vital link between our Trade & Panel customers, mechanics, and parts suppliers. As a Parts Interpreter, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, locating, and sourcing automotive parts, ensuring that both our external customers & workshop operates efficiently and customers receive the correct components for their vehicles.
What you'll be doing n
Accurately interpret and identify automotive parts from customer and mechanic requests, using technical knowledge and parts catalogues
n
Source and locate parts from suppliers and inventory systems, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness
n
Utilise parts management software and databases to retrieve specifications, part numbers, and pricing information
n
Liaise between workshop staff, customers, and parts suppliers to communicate part requirements and delivery timelines
n
Maintain accurate records of parts orders, inventory levels, and pricing quotations
n
Advise customers and mechanics on part compatibility, availability, and alternative options when necessary
n
Process parts orders and manage delivery schedules to minimise workshop downtime
n
Ensure compliance with inventory management procedures and maintain organised stock systems
n
Provide exceptional customer service, responding to enquiries professionally and promptly
n
Contribute to the efficiency of the workshop by ensuring parts are sourced quickly and accurately
What we're looking for n
Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Advisor, or similar role within the automotive industry
n
Strong knowledge of automotive parts, components,



and vehicle systems across multiple makes and models
n
Proficiency with parts management software and computer systems, including the ability to navigate parts catalogues and databases efficiently
n
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
n
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to various stakeholders
n
Attention to detail and accuracy in identifying parts and processing orders
n
Problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness in sourcing hard-to-find components
n
Customer service excellence and a professional demeanour
n
Valid driver's licence (desirable)
n
Knowledge of Australian automotive regulations and standards is advantageous
