A leading Australian financial institution is expanding its data engineering capability and is looking for an experienced
Senior Data Engineer
to join its Melbourne-based technology team.
n
You'll work on high-impact data initiatives across a large-scale financial environment, building reliable data platforms and pipelines that support analytics, reporting, customer insights and business-critical decision making.
The Rolen
You'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable data solutions while working closely with data analysts, engineers, architects and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Designing and developing scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
n
Building and maintaining cloud-based data platforms
n
Developing high-quality data models and transformation processes
n
Integrating data from multiple internal and external sources
n
Improving data quality, reliability and performance
n
Working with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
n
Contributing to data architecture and engineering standards
n
Supporting CI/CD and automated deployment practices
n
Monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and production environments
n




Helping drive modernisation of existing data platforms and processes
n
About Youn
You'll ideally bring:
n
n
5 years' experience in data engineering
n
Strong experience with
Python and SQL
n
Experience building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines
n
Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing
n
Experience with cloud data platforms such as
Azure, AWS or GCP
n
Exposure to technologies such as
Databricks, Snowflake, Spark or Airflow
n
Experience working with APIs and integrating disparate data sources
n
Understanding of CI/CD and modern engineering practices
n
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
n
n
Experience within
banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment
would be advantageous.
