Task & responsibilities
Installing a variety of equipment inc Fans, Units and other mechanical equipment
Section cutting to assemble commercial rigid air conditioning duct work / systems
Responsible for safe installation of the HVAC units
Have basic understanding of central air conditioning systems, gas and oil heating, hedonic heating systems, forced air heating systems, heat pumps
Manual fabrication & installation tasks
Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements
Selecting metal stock, such as stainless steel, galvanised iron, mild steel, aluminium and copper
Checking sizes, gauges and other dimensions of metal stock against specifications
Marking out metal stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and other measuring instruments
Cutting metal stock along guidelines using hand and power shears, guillotines and drills
Shaping and forming cut metal stock into products using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses and hammers




Fitting and assembling components into final products by welding, riveting, soldering, brazing and otherwise joining
Finishing products by polishing, filing, sanding and cleaning
Repairing damaged sheetmetal products and components
Specialising in fabrication, or in office assembly and installation of sheetmetal products
Producing aircraft sheet metal components requiring advanced drawing and calculating skills
Specialising in decorative copperwork
Assisting in the installation of reverse cycle ducted air conditioning systems taking and applying proper field measurements
Qualification & experience
Relevant qualification at the level of a Certificate III OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience will substitute for formal qualifications
Willingness to learn and develop the skillset required
Possess good communication skills and be able to maintain a safe work area
White Card, Asbestos Awareness, working with asbestos, silica prevention and own Tools
Be reliable, self-motivated, have the ability and knowledge to read blueprints
