Rowing Queensland
Brisbane
Love rowing? Love the buzz of a regatta coming together? This one's for you.
There's nothing quite like it: dawn mist on the water, crews boating in, the start line lit up, and a whole community gathered on the bank cheering. Behind every great regatta is someone who made it happen. We're looking for that person.
Rowing Queensland (RQ) is the governing body for rowing in Queensland, supporting clubs, schools, athletes, officials and volunteers across the state. Our regattas range from local club racing to our Championship events for Schools, Masters and Opens, and they are the beating heart of our sport.
The Role
As our Event Delivery Lead, you'll stand up Rowing Queensland regattas, from the first calendar draft to the final post-event debrief. You'll lead a crew of casual event staff, work alongside our hosts, officials and volunteers, and make sure every rower, coach, parent and spectator has a safe, smooth and memorable day on the water.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you'll be the go-to person for how RQ events run, and you'll have real scope to shape and lift the standard of regattas across Queensland.
What you'll be doing
- Planning and delivering RQ's regatta calendar, owning each event end to end: logistics, course setup, equipment, timing, staffing and pack-down
- Recruiting, rostering, training and leading a team of casual event staff so every regatta is well crewed and well run
- Working hand in hand with regatta hosts, clubs and schools, making sure everyone is explicit on roles and responsibilities before race day
- Supporting event sanctioning and regatta applications,
and building a practical host playbook packed with resources clubs can actually use
- Working with officials on safe practice and supporting regatta jury functions
- Running post-event reviews and turning the lessons into better events next time
About You
You're organised, calm under pressure, and great with people, whether that's a nervous first-time host, a seasoned umpire or a casual staffer on their first regatta.
You'll bring:
- Experience in event delivery or operations, ideally in sport
- A love of rowing, or a genuine eagerness to dive into it
- Strong communication skills and a knack for building relationships with diverse stakeholders
- A sound grasp of safety and risk management in an event setting
- Flexibility to work early mornings and weekends during the regatta season
About Us
Our vision at Rowing Queensland is to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive rowing community that embraces diversity, encourages active involvement and fosters a lifelong passion for the sport. We deliver on this through our Strategic Plan and four pillars: Participation & People, Infrastructure & Capability, Governance, and Commercial.
Join us and you'll be part of a small, passionate team that punches well above its weight for Queensland rowing.
