Role Description The Trust Accountant is a full-time role responsible for managing trust accounting activities for real estate and property management clients. This hybrid position is based in Frankston, VIC, with a combination of in-office work and some work from home. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate trust ledgers, processing receipts and payments, reconciling trust bank accounts, and preparing regular trust account reports.
The role also involves ensuring compliance with relevant trust accounting regulations, supporting audits, and responding to internal and external queries regarding trust transactions.
The Trust
Accountant will collaborate with the finance and operations teams to improve processes, support agents with trust-related matters, and uphold high standards of accuracy and integrity.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess robust bookkeeping and finance skills, including experience with trust accounting in a real estate or property management context.
Candidates should possess skills in preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
Candidates should possess experience in account reconciliation, including daily and monthly bank reconciliations for trust accounts.
Candidates should possess familiarity with tax preparation or compliance concepts as they relate to financial and trust records.
Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related discipline (e.g., Certificate IV or Bachelor’s degree) are highly beneficial.
Proficiency with accounting and property management software, robust attention to detail, and solid numerical and analytical skills are expected.
Effective communication skills, a commitment to ethical practice, and the ability to work independently and within a team in a hybrid environment are important.
