About the role The Wharf Workshop Leading Hand Afternoon Shift reports to the Wharf Manager and is to work pro-actively to assist all staff in the improvement of customer satisfaction, quality and safety.
The Leading Hand Afternoon
Shift is to ensure that all staff work in accordance with Elphinstone Enterprises Vision and Mission Statement, follow all company policies and procedures and maintain a protected workplace at all times. This is a supervisory role with responsibilities including works scheduling and administration, quality and safety control.
Key responsibilities
Repair and maintain non mechanized mobile plant and equipment used for sea container transportation and general wharf use.
Liaise with Straitlink Shipping representatives as required delivering a high level of customer satisfaction in line with Elphinstone Enterprises customer service standards
Pro-actively comply with and improve Elphinstone Enterprises Quality Assurance program
Carry out Quality Assurance checks as required
Pro-actively engage in Elphinstone Enterprises Continuous Improvement Program
Monitor works at wharf workshop and ensure they are scheduled for completion in line with Elphinstone Enterprises customer service and quality standards
Ensure staff correctly use PPE
Ensure machinery and Equipment is operated in accordance with Manufacturer's Instructions and according to Standard Operating Procedures of Elphinstone Enterprises Pty Ltd
Promote a protected work setting and ensure team members comply with safety regulations, identify need for safety training, complete required initial safety and hazard assessments, follow correct procedure for incident reporting, participate in accident investigations, and resolve safety concerns
Identify requirements for specific materials or tools and communicate these requests to the appropriate person
Coordinate the team and apply the policies and procedures of Elphinstone Enterprises Pty Ltd, including involvement in rostering, organizing tasks, maintaining work standards, resolving issues between team members, and mentoring apprentices
About you
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of Quality Assurance programs
Understanding of safety regulations and incident reporting procedures
Ability to coordinate teams and manage work schedules
Ability to mentor apprentices
