Sous Chef – Mount Macedon Winery

Full time | 76 hours per fortnight | Wednesday–Sunday

Mount Macedon Winery is looking for an experienced, effective and positive Sous Chef / Senior CDP to join our kitchen leadership team.

Located on the western slopes of Mount Macedon, MMW is a multi-purpose hospitality venue offering Cellar Door Restaurant, UUMM Restaurant, Weddings and Events.

The Role

Working closely with our Head Chef, you will help lead our kitchen teams and ensure consistently high standards across all food and service operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a chef who enjoys working across multiple outlets, operates and leads effectively, always seeking process enhancements for optimal workflows, developing people and delivering quality food and guest experiences.

Key responsibilities include:
Lead one of two kitchens and teams during service, whilst the other is led by the Head Chef
Oversee food quality, presentation and consistency across multiple outlets
Support menu development and execution, documentation management
Coordinate planning for, rostering and prepping for kitchen operations across restaurant service, weddings and events
Supervise, mentor and develop kitchen team members
Support ordering,



stock control, food costs and waste reduction
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen presentation
Work collaboratively with FOH and wider venue leadership

About You

You will have
Proven Sous Chef or Senior Kitchen Leadership experience
Commercial Cookery Certificate III or above
Experience across multi-purpose venues and/or multiple outlets
Solid culinary, leadership and communication skills
A passion for quality food and produce
The ability to remain calm and organised in a quick-paced workplace
A positive, collaborative and ‘can do’ attitude
Strong food safety and hygiene knowledge
Availability Wednesday to Sunday, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
A valid driver's licence
