About the role

This is a hands-on senior kitchen position. You will be responsible for leading and supporting the kitchen team, maintaining food quality and consistency, supervising preparation and service, training kitchen staff and ensuring recipes and operating standards are followed. You will need to be comfortable working in a busy commercial kitchen and leading the team through high-volume service periods.

Key responsibilities
Leading and supervising day-to-day kitchen operations
Preparing and overseeing authentic Indian vegetarian dishes
Managing kitchen operations during busy lunch and dinner services
Maintaining consistency in taste, quality, portioning and presentation
Ensuring recipes, preparation methods and kitchen procedures are followed
Supervising chefs, cooks and kitchen hands
Training and developing kitchen team members
Allocating duties and coordinating kitchen sections during service
Conducting quality checks before food is served
Managing food preparation and production planning

About you
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Asian Cookery or a higher relevant qualification
Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in an Indian commercial kitchen environment
Strong practical knowledge of Indian vegetarian cuisine




Experience preparing a variety of Indian dishes in a commercial kitchen
Knowledge of Indian spices, gravies, sauces, preparation techniques and cooking methods
Experience in North Indian, Indo Chinese and South Indian cuisine
Previous experience supervising or leading kitchen staff
Ability to maintain quality and consistency in a high-volume restaurant environment
Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, stock control and kitchen procedures
Solid organisational and time-management skills
