About the Role

The Foodies Restaurant Hampton Park is seeking an experienced Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation.

$75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures
- Prepare curries, rice dishes, kottu, rotty, string hoppers, meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes as required for daily service
- Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, stovetops and other commercial cooking equipment




- Season food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistent flavour and quality
- Portion and present meals in accordance with established restaurant standards
- Prepare food to accommodate dietary requirements and reasonable customer requests where required
- Monitor ingredient usage and assist with estimating food requirements for daily service
- Store, handle and rotate ingredients and prepared food appropriately, including within temperature-controlled storage areas
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, cooking equipment and food storage areas
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to support efficient service
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Candidate Requirements

- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or above) or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
- Experience preparing Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisine will be highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
- Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment
