Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Are you a support worker, passionate about supporting young women and their families? Use your expertise to support parents and their infants, to build their parenting skills, improve relationships and support safety.

This part-time position provides support to pregnant and/or parenting young women, aged 16- 25 years, and their babies, aged 0-3 years, who have experienced unstable housing, impacted by domestic and family violence (DFV) and at risk of statutory intervention from the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.

This role provides parenting support within the BYS Safe Young Mums and Bubs 24/7 Supported Accommodation Program.

This part-time role involves four shifts per fortnight, including evenings, weekends and nights. Penalty rates and allowances apply.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

- A tertiary qualification or working towards (studying) in Social Work, Psychology, or Social Sciences or similar experience.
- Demonstrated experience working holistically with young parents and their children, focusing upon support plan goals and experience building trusting relationships with marginalised young people.
- The ability to work with young parents in building their parenting skills,



attachment and relationship with their children.
- The ability to facilitate individual and group activities providing positive engagement with young parents.
- Strong communication skills, including oral and written skills, writing report and case files, collaborating with community services, and the ability to liaise effectively with young parents and advocate on their behalf.
- Robust planning, task management and organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a supported accommodation setting.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

- Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- National Police Check clearance.
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
