About the Role

As Assistant Planner, you will support the delivery of sales, margin and inventory outcomes through effective planning, purchasing, analysis and stock management. You will work closely with Product, Supply Chain, Finance, Retail Operations and supplier partners to ensure the right products are available in the right locations at the right time.

This role will evolve beyond administration and purchasing activities, providing exposure to forecasting, commercial analysis and merchandise planning, creating a strong foundation for future progression into more senior planning roles.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Analysis

- Support sales, gross margin and inventory forecasting.
- Monitor category performance and identify emerging opportunities and risks.
- Assist with assortment planning, range reviews and promotional analysis.
- Prepare regular reporting and provide insights that support business decisions.

Inventory & Replenishment

- Monitor inventory levels across stores and distribution centres.
- Execute replenishment activities to support product availability.
- Analyse stock performance, sell-through, stock turn and weeks of cover.
- Identify shortages, aged stock and inventory risks and recommend actions.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination





- Raise and manage purchase orders.
- Coordinate supplier communications and order follow-up.
- Track inbound shipments and maintain accurate delivery information.
- Liaise with freight forwarders and logistics partners.

Allocation & Trade Support

- Support store allocations based on demand, store grading and stock availability.
- Assist with product launches, promotional activity and stock balancing.
- Provide reporting and analysis that supports trade performance.

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, planning and purchasing processes.
- Support implementation of new systems, tools and ways of working.
- Maintain accurate product and inventory data across business systems.

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring:

- Experience in merchandise planning, allocation, replenishment, purchasing, inventory management, buying support, supply chain or retail analysis.
- Robust analytical and numerical capability.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
- An understanding of retail metrics including sales, margin, stock turn, sell-through and weeks of cover.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and desire to learn.
