Building Manager – Sydney NSW – Full Time
Malyon Facilities specialises in the management of residential, commercial and industrial strata. We are a technology-driven facilities management company that believes exceptional service comes from exceptional people, systems and processes. It’s the little things: calling new owners to welcome them to the building, organising lift curtains on removal days, and spot-checking common areas to ensure they are clean and tidy. Our robust processes ensure this happens every single day. We take immense pride in the buildings we manage and the communities we support.
If you enjoy building relationships, solving problems, leveraging technology and continually improving your skills, we will provide the mentoring, systems and support to help you become an outstanding Building Manager.
About the role:
We are seeking a Building Manager with approximately 1–3 years’ experience in building, facilities, strata, property, or a related customer-facing environment. You may already be managing a small site or assisting a senior Building Manager and are now looking to take the next step in your career.
As a Building Manager with Malyon Facilities, you will receive unparalleled training in best-practice systems and quality service delivery. With support from your team, you will provide outstanding service to building residents, committee members, strata managers, contractors and colleagues while growing both professionally and personally.
Following onboarding and training, you will take ownership of a high-quality residential and mixed-use asset in Sydney. You will become the trusted onsite representative for Malyon Facilities, working closely with residents, contractors, committee members and strata managers to maintain a safe, efficient and highly liveable community.
Duties:
- Manage contractors and coordinate reactive, preventative and project-based maintenance works.
- Build trusted relationships with residents, committee members, strata managers and service providers.
- Conduct building inspections, identify risks and opportunities, and prepare professional reports and recommendations.
- Manage building assets and maintenance programs to maximise reliability, longevity and value.
- Maintain accurate records and leverage industry-leading technology platforms to drive efficient service delivery.
- Manage approved expenditure and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Identify opportunities to improve building operations, resident satisfaction and long-term asset performance.
Skills and experience:
Our ideal candidate:
- Has 1-3 years’ experience in building, facilities, strata, property, or a related customer-facing environment.
- Is friendly and approachable: Can you build rapport quickly with residents, contractors, committee members and colleagues while maintaining professionalism and authority?
- Has regular access to a car, can travel between sites across Sydney, and occasionally attend Head Office in Newtown
- Is an excellent communicator: Can you write professional emails, prepare clear reports and confidently communicate with owners, committee members, strata managers and contractors?
- Is flexible: Are you willing to adjust your schedule or assist at other buildings to meet changing operational requirements or attend occasional after-hours meetings?
- Is a technology enthusiast: Are you naturally comfortable with technology and software? Can you quickly learn recent systems, maintain accurate records, troubleshoot basic issues and leverage technology to improve efficiency? Do you take pride in data accuracy and well-organised digital records?
- Is calm under pressure: Can you confidently navigate competing stakeholder interests while remaining professional, respectful and solutions-focused? Are you able to handle difficult conversations without becoming defensive or emotional?
- Is a confident decision-maker: Are you comfortable taking ownership and making decisions when required? Can you gather information, assess risks and recommend practical solutions without excessive supervision?
- Is a problem-solver:
Do you enjoy identifying the root cause of issues rather than applying quick fixes?
- Is a lifelong learner: Do you have a passion for learning and continually building your skills?
Culture:
Malyon Facilities currently has approximately 25 employees, and we are growing. Our organisation values integrity, accountability, professionalism, excellence, teamwork and positivity. Malyon Facilities is committed to being a great place to work, where colleagues get to know one another, celebrate shared successes and enjoy working together. We foster an inclusive environment where employees can be themselves while meeting Malyon’s skilled expectations.
Benefits:
- Unlike many building management roles, you will not be left isolated in a building with little support. You will work as part of a highly collaborative team that shares knowledge, solves problems together and actively invests in each other’s development.
- You will receive unparalleled support, training and development opportunities.
- We actively promote from within. High-performing Building Managers are given increased responsibility, exposure to larger and more complex assets, project management opportunities and leadership pathways as they develop.
- We will give you the support and training to achieve a work-life balance that allows you to focus deeply on your goals, without the distraction of an unsustainable workload.
- We will help you to thrive in an environment where the team you join improves business processes, client service delivery, and each other’s potential.
- You will be given the opportunities you seek to innovate for our clients and for the business. You will be given the freedom to express and trial your ideas to improve quality and achieve excellence.
- You will get to work with a diverse team of individuals with skills in a broad range of areas, in a way that leverages these skills to improve the team’s performance together.
- You will have the opportunity to become a member of an incredible team of high-calibre individuals who support, teach and learn from each other.
