HSE ADVISOR
Your influence. Our people. Safer outcomes. Lasting impact.
Alliance SI is continuing to grow, and we’re looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our Melbourne team and help strengthen the way we approach health, safety and workplace across our operations.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the business – partnering with operational leaders and site teams, influencing better ways of working and turning Health and Safety requirements into practical outcomes that make a genuine difference.
You’ll support a diverse electrical and telecommunications infrastructure portfolio, working with our people and projects while helping us continue to build a proactive culture around health, safety, compliance, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
You’ll have the autonomy to make an impact, backed by an experienced national team and a business that takes the safety and wellbeing of its people seriously.
What the opportunity feels like
- Partner closely with operational leaders and project teams to make health and safety a part of how we work every day.
- Spend time where the work happens, identifying risks, supporting teams and turning compliance requirements into practical solutions.
- Lead and support risk management, audits and site inspections, identifying opportunities before they become issues.
- Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.
- Help develop and continuously improve policies, procedures, systems and programs.
- Use health and safety data and performance trends to identify risks, improvement opportunities and areas requiring greater focus.
- Design and deliver training, engagement and awareness initiatives that strengthen health and safety culture.
- Support worker wellbeing, safety leadership and psychosocial hazard initiatives.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness and business continuity activities.
- Build trusted relationships across the business and influence positive change without losing sight of operational realities.
Who we’re hoping to meet
You’re likely already working in heath and safety or a related discipline and understand what good safety leadership looks like in a practical operational environment.
You’ll be confident working with leaders, site teams and stakeholders at different levels of the organisation and comfortable balancing compliance requirements with real-world operational needs.
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can build relationships, communicate clearly and influence others rather than relying solely on policies and procedures.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Demonstrated experience in health and safety or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Experience supporting risk management, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- The ability to identify root causes and translate findings into meaningful corrective and preventative actions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Sound analytical, organisational and problem-solving capability.
- Confidence interpreting performance data and identifying trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence managing documentation and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Experience with Smartsheet or similar systems is highly regarded.
- Interstate travel will be required from time to time to support our operations.
The experience that helps
Experience within construction, electrical, telecommunications, infrastructure or another operational/project-based environment will be highly regarded.
We’re particularly interested in someone who understands that great health and safety outcomes come from a combination of strong systems, visible leadership, engaged teams and practical decision-making.
Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Risk or a related discipline would also be highly regarded.
