Key Team Support Worker – Pasadena
Are you an experienced disability professional who is passionate about relationship-based practice, team leadership, and supporting people to live meaningful and purposeful lives?
We are seeking a Key Team Support Worker to lead a small support team working alongside a woman in her 40s living in Pasadena, supporting her to live her best life.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong leadership skills with warmth, resilience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine ability to build trusting relationships. You will play a key role in ensuring the person receives consistent, high-quality support while also mentoring and guiding the team around her.
About the Person
The person you will be supporting is a bright and funny woman with a sharp sense of humour and big personality.
She values genuine relationships, enjoys meaningful conversation, and thrives with support workers who are respectful, patient, and able to engage authentically while maintaining professional boundaries.
She takes pride in running her own small business, enjoys being involved in her local community, and has a solid interest in AFL football, whether that be supporting her favourite team in person or on the TV each week. Family relationships are very important to her, and she loves spending time around dogs and engaging with people she trusts.
As Team Leader, you will help establish and maintain this consistency across the team, ensuring staff understand the person’s preferences, needs, routines, goals, and support approach.
About the Role
As Key Support Worker, you will have a combination of direct support, team leadership,
and administration responsibilities.
You will work closely with the person, their family, support team, and relevant professionals to ensure supports remain consistent, responsive, and person-centred. The key support worker will play an important role in creating a positive support environment where people are known, respected, listened to, and supported to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the support team
- Mentor and support team members to develop their confidence and skills
- Promote consistency in how supports are delivered
- Ensure team members understand and follow the person’s support plans, routines, preferences, and communication strategies
- Provide guidance to staff when responding to behaviours of concern or complex situations as per the positive behaviour support plan.
- Support new team members with orientation and integration into the support team
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with the person, family, team members, and relevant professionals
- Support effective handovers and information sharing
- Identify and escalate concerns, risks, incidents, or changes in support needs
- Develop and coordiante rostering for the support team
- Encourage open and respectful communication within the team
- Assist with maintaining accurate documentation and records
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in supporting someone with complex behavior and confident taking a leadership role
- Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
- Warm, engaging, and approachable
- A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with people, families, and staff
- Confident providing direction and constructive feedback to team members
- Able to maintain clear and consistent professional boundaries
- Organised and reliable
- Comfortable responding to complex behaviours in a composed and proactive manner
- Passionate about supporting people to have genuine choice, control, and community connection
Requirements
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain:
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Medication Training
- Any additional training relevant to the person’s individual support needs
The role will include direct support and may require at least 1 x sleepover per week, which may include 1 x night on the weekend.
Pay & Hours
·SCHADS Award – Level 2.3
·Casual rate commencing at $48.13
Working hours: Minimum of 15 hours of direct support a week with administration hours on top.
