Our Energy Efficiency Policy team is currently seeking to appoint a Policy & Project Officer to support the development and delivery of strategic policy, projects and initiatives that contribute to NSW’s energy and sustainability objectives. This is an opportunity to combine your policy, analytical and project management skills while contributing to meaningful work within the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

This role supports delivering the investigation into energy rental standards, a commitment from the NSW Consumer Energy Strategy. In addition, the successful applicant will conduct research and policy analysis to develop new strategic priorities for energy efficiency policy and the Built Environment Sector Plan.

Working collaboratively across the team, you will undertake policy research and analysis, provide evidence-based advice and coordinate projects from planning through to delivery. You will prepare high-quality briefs, reports, discussion papers and project documentation, monitor emerging issues, and engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in policy, ideally within a government, regulatory, energy, sustainability or similarly complex environment.
- Strong research, analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify emerging issues and develop practical, evidence-based advice and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing clear, concise briefs, reports,



discussion papers and other materials for different audiences.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines, remaining adaptable and focused in a rapid-paced environment.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to work independently, take initiative and contribute collaboratively to team outcomes.

Essential Requirements –

- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
