About the Role

We are looking for a Junior HSE Advisor to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently started their career in health and safety, is currently completing their WHS qualifications, or has some construction experience and is looking to develop into an HSE Advisor role.

You will initially undertake training and onboarding in Newcastle, working closely with our HSEQ Manager and wider team before transitioning to one of our project sites. Once deployed to site, you will work a 10 days on / 4 days off roster and provide hands on HSE support to our project teams.

This is not an office only safety role. You will spend time in the field working alongside supervisors, operators, subcontractors and project management, developing your practical understanding of construction safety and learning how HSE systems are applied on active civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with site inductions, pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Conduct workplace inspections and HSE observations
- Support worker, subcontractor and plant onboarding
- Assist with SWMS, permits, audits and corrective actions
- Maintain HSE records, registers and reporting information
- Support incident and near-miss reporting and investigations
- Engage with workers, supervisors, subcontractors and client HSE representatives
- Assist with safety communications and continuous improvement initiatives

About You





We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing a career in construction health and safety and is comfortable working in a site environment.

Ideally, you will have:

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety – completed or currently being undertaken
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- White Card
- First Aid qualification, or willingness to obtain
- Construction, civil or HSE experience is desirable but not essential
- Good communication and computer skills
- A willingness to learn, take feedback and develop your HSE capability
- A basic understanding of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and workplace safety requirements
- Available to travel and work away on a 10/4 roster once deployed to a project
