Who We Are
At Benevolent, we believe every person deserves to live life on their own terms, with dignity, respect and a sense of belonging. For over two centuries, as Australia's first charity, this belief has shaped who we are and how we work.
As a not-for-profit, independent and non-religious organisation, we are a practice-led organisation, our work is grounded in evidence and strengths‑based approaches that place people at the centre of everything we do. We walk alongside individuals, families and communities, upholding rights, amplifying voices and advocating for safer, more inclusive systems where people can thrive.
Your Opportunity
Family and Child Connect (FaCC) is a community-based intake, advice and referral service, established across Queensland to support families who are at risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system. Through brief case work (up to 6 weeks) and effective relationship building, we aim to strengthen families so children can live at home safely, free from abuse and neglect.
As a Case Worker (Child & Family Practitioner), you will engage with at-risk families (in a voluntary and involuntary nature), supporting them to make positive choices in their parenting. You will undertake an initial assessment of a family’s strengths and needs, and with the family, consider what supports and/or referral pathways may contribute to increasing safety in the home. During engagement, you will support families to build on their existing strengths, to enable them to overcome risks and increase the family’s functioning.
How You Will Contribute
- Collaborate with child protection and community services to enhance safety and family functioning at home.
- Confidence to engage with families who are referred to FaCC in a voluntary and involuntary capacity.
- Ability to complete comprehensive safety and risk assessments in the context of Child Protection and associated complexities.
- Keep accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and related tasks.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in the community, participate in community networking and events, which includes delivering information to services about the program and supports available to families.
