We’re building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space – and we’re a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture you will help shape the employee experience behind Australia’s next generation of hypersonic aircraft. As our People & Culture Officer, you’ll be at the heart of a fast-moving, mission-driven team—keeping our people function running smoothly while building broad generalist experience across recruitment, employee relations, operations, payroll support, learning and development, and the wider employee lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities include:

- Prepare employee documentation, including letters and contracts.
- Monitor employee leave balances and probationary periods, issuing timely reminders and escalating issues to managers as needed.
- Help develop and improve People policies, processes, trackers and systems.
- Coordinate our Social Squad, delivering events and activities that bring our people together while managing spend against budget.
- Support recruitment from advertising through to onboarding, including preparing position descriptions, posting on-brand job ads, coordinating and participating in interviews, supporting graduate programs, and maintaining talent records and our position description library.
- Support performance, learning and development activities, including the annual performance review cycle,

training bookings and inductions.
- Keep employee records, HR systems and personnel files accurate, confidential and compliant.
- Build great relationships across the business and contribute to a positive employee experience.
- Act as a key point of contact for HR process and policy queries.
- Prepare and distribute people-related communications.
- Support workplace health and safety (WHS) initiatives.

Life at Hypersonix

We’re a 70-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, expectations are high and the environment is constantly evolving. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.

To thrive here, you’ll need to embrace change, stay resilient, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Priorities shift quick — you’ll need to adapt just as fast and genuinely enjoy the pace rather than just tolerate it. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team delivering bleeding-edge solutions under real deadline pressure, so strong problem-solving instincts and flexibility aren’t nice-to-haves — they’re how the work gets done.

What You’ll Bring

To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:

- Qualification in human resource management or a related field (or studying towards).
- Approximately 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role.

- Prior recruitment experience.
- Familiarity with HRIS and/or ATS platforms.
- Knowledge of Australian workplace relations laws and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite, including SharePoint.
- Organised, approachable and people-focused, with strong communication skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, hands-on approach – you spot room to improve, take the initiative and own the outcome.
- Ability to pass any applicable security clearance or background checks.
- Right to live and work in Australia.

Bonus points for:

- Experience using Employment Hero.
- Experience with the Professionals Award, Clerks Award, or Manufacturing Award.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing, or a similarly technical environment.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen/ Permanent Resident or have an appropriate Australian work visa.
