- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super
Our Natural Capital Markets and Accounts Branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Economist on a TAA to support the development and delivery of strategic policy initiatives at the intersection of nature, economics and investment.
Working within the Nature Finance and Disclosure Policy team, you will contribute to initiatives that support implementation of the NSW Plan for Nature, including the Central West Orana Regional Investment Framework Pilot, nature-related financial disclosure and biodiversity reporting initiatives, and the development of policy that enables greater private investment in nature.
You will work closely with economists, policy specialists, scientists and delivery teams across the Department to coordinate projects, support policy development and contribute to strategic initiatives relating to nature finance, natural capital and biodiversity reporting. You will help bring together diverse perspectives, manage project activities, build productive stakeholder relationships and prepare high-quality briefing notes, submissions and other advice that supports evidence-based decision-making.
About You
You are an experienced policy or economics professional who enjoys working on complex strategic issues and turning ideas into practical outcomes.
You are organised, collaborative and comfortable working in an emerging policy environment where priorities evolve and ambiguity is common. You build solid relationships,
coordinate work across multiple stakeholders and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You bring sound judgement, excellent written communication skills and an ability to apply economic thinking to support policy development, project delivery and government decision-making.
Essential Requirements
- Mathematics, Statistics, Accountancy or Economics degree or equivalent relevant experience
