The Role

RAA is embarking on an ambitious AI-first transformation, embedding artificial intelligence as an operating principle across the organisation rather than treating it as a standalone technology initiative. As part of our newly established AI Hub, we're building the capability to adopt AI at scale while ensuring trust, accountability and responsible use remain at the centre of everything we do.

As the Governance & Risk Lead, AI, you'll ensure AI is adopted safely, ethically and responsibly across RAA, protecting member trust, privacy and organisational integrity as our AI capability grows. You'll develop and oversee the governance, risk and compliance frameworks that support AI adoption, working across the AI Hub, business units and control functions to ensure AI initiatives meet legal, regulatory and organisational requirements without unnecessarily slowing innovation.

You'll provide expert guidance on responsible AI practices, helping teams understand and manage risk and implement appropriate controls throughout the AI lifecycle. From identifying and assessing AI-related risks across privacy, bias, transparency, security and explainability, to conducting ethical impact assessments and leading the governance response to AI-related incidents, you'll be the trusted voice that helps RAA balance innovation with responsibility.

About You

You bring a strong understanding of risk, governance and compliance, and you're motivated by helping organisations innovate safely rather than simply saying no. You know how to translate complex legal, regulatory and ethical requirements into practical, proportionate guidance that supports delivery rather than becoming a bottleneck.





We're looking for someone with:

- Demonstrated experience in AI governance, risk management, compliance or a related control function within a complex organisation
- Experience developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies or standards for emerging technologies
- Experience partnering with legal, privacy, cyber security, risk and audit stakeholders to manage complex risk and compliance matters
- Experience conducting risk or ethical impact assessments for technology or AI-related initiatives
- Strong understanding of AI risk domains, including privacy, bias, transparency, security and explainability
- Well-developed analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to balance risk management with support for innovation
- A tertiary qualification in Law, Risk Management, Information Technology, Data Science, Business or a related field; certification or formal training in AI governance, responsible AI, ethics, privacy or risk management (such as CIPP or CRISC) is highly regarded
